CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One charitable organization in West Virginia will win free digital marketing services, including website design, SEO services and marketing support, in the New Year.

For the 4th year, Bricks Without Straw, an internet marketing firm based in Charleston, is accepting applications for the Frank Brown Community Partnership.

“The program was named after my grandfather and it’s a testament and tribute to him,” said Jamie Summers-Brown, president of Bricks Without Straw.

“Through his memory, I am able to contribute and to serve the state of West Virginia that I love dearly.”

The idea is to help a nonprofit organization where employees spend the majority of their time assisting those in need, often at the expense of marketing and fundraising.

Possible services for the winner include completely new website development along with branding and marketing work or redevelopment of an existing brand and website.

All services for the winner are provided free of charge.

“As the program’s continued to grow, we’ve been able to add more benefits for these people,” said Summers-Brown.

Past winners have included the Bob Burdette Center, Children’s Therapy Clinic and Manna Meal. All are based in Kanawha County, but Summers-Brown said he would like to see the program expand into other parts of the Mountain State.

The program was originally designed for one year of free website and marketing services for the winner, but that’s changed a bit.

“We kind of maintain and stay on with these groups and almost provide indefinite service to them,” Summers-Brown told MetroNews.

“As long as we’re around, we’re going to be able to facilitate and support these organizations.”

To date, he estimated services worth an estimated $250,000 have been provided at no cost.

The application deadline for qualifying organizations, approved by the Secretary of State’s Office with a headquarters in West Virginia, is Dec. 31.

The winner will be announced in January.

“The letters that people write about why they think they should be chosen for the partnership program are super, super compelling, so it is a difficult process to choose just one of these organizations,” Summers-Brown said.
