Adamson sentenced to life without mercy

ELKINS, W.Va. — The Randolph County man convicted in the April 2015 shooting of Belington-native Donovan Nicholson will spend the rest of his life in prison without mercy.

That sentence became official Monday for Derek Adamson, 38, of Elkins.

In October, a jury convicted Adamson and recommended no mercy in the killing of the 22-year-old Nicholson.

The shooting took place near the Elkins Train Depot during the early morning hours of April 21, 2015.

Police discovered Nicholson’s body around 4 a.m. that morning.
