FAIRMONT, W.Va. — A father and son face charges in Marion County following a sexual assault investigation.
West Virginia State Police arrested 20-year-old Brandon Coe of Fairmont on Tuesday, Dec. 20 for allegedly abusing a 7-year-old girl. Brandon Coe was charged with first-degree sexual assault.
Coe’s father, Ronny Coe, a Marion County Police Auxiliary Officer, was also arrested and charged with failure to report child abuse/neglect.
The victim told her mother and mother’s boyfriend Brandon Coe abused her in October.
The adults told Sgt. Adam Scott they confronted Ronny Coe who, according to the investigation, “told them not to call the police. It would be a waste of time.”
They did not report the alleged crime to police or child protective services or take her to the doctor for examination.
Sgt. Scott also said Brandon Coe advised investigators “it was the 7-year-old victim’s fault she was sexually assaulted by him and that she wanted to have sex.”
Brandon was arraigned in Marion County Magistrate Court and placed on a $300,000 cash or surety bond for first-degree sexual assault. Ronny Coe was also arraigned for misdemeanor failure to report child abuse or neglect and placed on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
Both were transported to the North Central Regional Jail.
Additional arrests are expected.
