Troopers net $50k in Berkeley County traffic stop

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Three people face charges after West Virginia State Police seized more than 11 pounds of marijuana, 57 pieces of THC candy, a handgun and more than $2,800 in cash during a traffic stop on Interstate 81 Tuesday.

State Police announced Wednesday that Joshua Moore, 26, of Alameda, Calif., and passengers, Abdul Kamara, 27, of Dumfries, Va., and Shaniqua Whindleton, 24, of Petersburg, Va., were charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, transporting narcotics into the state, conspiracy to commit a felony and prohibited person possessing a firearm.

The nearly 12 pounds of marijuana seized had a street value of more than $53,000 and that the THC candy was worth $1,000.

Police also seized almost $3,000 in cash.

The defendants were traveling north on I-81 in a rental car with Alabama registration when a trooper pulled them over for a traffic violation just before 10:30 in the morning.
