Man killed in Nicholas County fire

GILBOA, W.Va. — A 42-year-old man was killed in a fire early Saturday morning in Nicholas County, authorities said.

The blaze at a residence in the community of Gilboa was first reported to 911 at shortly after 12:30 a.m. Firefighters from Keslers’ Cross Lanes and other crews responded to the scene.

The state Fire Marshal’s Office, which is investigating, tweeted about the blaze Saturday:

“Nicholas fatal fire is undetermined in cause. 42 yoa male victim. NO working smoke detectors in home”
