Morgantown bank robbery suspect arrested in Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The woman suspected in a downtown Morgantown bank robbery was taken into custody in Parkersburg.

United States Marshals arrested Christine Joy Martin, 30, Friday, Dec. 30 at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Martin, 30 of Davisville, was arrested in Parkersburg less than 2 weeks after she’s accused in a Morgantown bank robbery.

Martin was discovered checking into a room at a south side hotel where she was arrested without incident.

The Davisville woman allegedly walked into United Bank located on the corner of Fayette and Chestnut Streets at approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20 where she presented a note demanding money.

Bankers turned over an undisclosed amount of money before the robber fled on foot.

Deputy Marshals from the northern and southern districts, task force officers from the Morgantown Police Department, Fairmont Police Department, Cabell County Sheriff’s Department and Parkersburg Police Department assisted in the investigation.
