Fairmont murder suspect arrested in Delaware

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Deputy U.S. Marshals in Delaware arrested final suspect accused in a deadly home invasion in Fairmont.

John Deahl is one of multiple people accused in a home invasion style robbery and murder in Fairmont.

John Anthony Deahl was taken into custody without incident Tuesday, at approximately 2:40 p.m. in Smyrna, Delaware.

The 26-year-old is accused of first-degree murder in the Nov. 17, 2016 home invasion style robbery.

Deahl and five others were allegedly involved in the shooting of death of 27-year-old Malcom Whitted of Detroit, Michigan.

Investigators believe Deahl traveled to Delaware in December and has been hiding out at an associate’s apartment since that time.

Deahl was being held in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Facility pending extradition back to Fairmont.

U.S. Marshals and Fairmont City Police have been working together to track suspects in the case.
