Fayette deputies reopen 1979 murder case

FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. — Fayette County sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in locating a suspect that killed a woman 38 years ago.

There is now a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person who killed Sue Roop.

The Fayette County sheriff’s department has reopened the case as they await for DNA results from the Valentine’s Day murder back in 1979.

Remains were found at both Kanawha Falls and on Bolt Mountain, but it has not been confirmed if any of those belong to Roop.

Deputies said there is only one reported witness who saw Roop get into a car the day she was killed.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Fayette County sheriff’s department or Crimestoppers at (304)-255-STOP.
