Morgantown bank robbery suspect target of other investigations

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — As a Davisville, West Virginia woman sits in the North Central Regional Jail on a $150,000 bond in connection to a Morgantown bank robbery, investigators from multiple states are determining if she is a suspect in similar cases in their jurisdictions.

Christine Joy Martin, 30, was arrested at a Parkserburg hotel Dec. 30, 2016.

Detectives named Martin as the suspect in a bank robbery that occurred Dec. 20, 2016 at the United Bank in downtown.

During the robbery, Martin allegedly produced a note demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, she fled the area.

U.S. Deputy Marshals from the Northern and Southern Districts, task force officers from the Morgantown Police Department, Fairmont Police Department, Cabell County Sheriff’s Department and officers from the Parkersburg Police Department searched for Martin throughout the day, before narrowing her location down to the hotel.

A Deputy Marshal identified Martin at the check in counter of the hotel and observed her enter a room. After other officers arrived to assist with the arrest, Martin was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators with the Fairmont Police Department and Morgantown Police Department in West Virginia, South Strabane Township Police Department in Pennsylvania, and the City of Athens Police Department in Ohio are considering Martin as a potential suspect in similar cases.
