Authorities ID body found in Jefferson County

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. — The woman whose body was found near the Walmart Super-center in Charles Town has been identified as Angela Cantrell, 49.

Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty said Thursday they were investigating the death as a homicide.

Dougherty said Abby Gue, 34, has been taken into custody and charged with third degree arson in relation to the case.

She was being held at Eastern Regional Jail.

Dougherty said they have several other suspects as well.

“We conducted a couple of interviews last night [Thursday],” Dougherty told MetroNews affiliate WEPM. “We believe additional warrants are forthcoming.”

Dougherty said two deputies are in Charleston with Cantrall’s body as they await the results of an autopsy.

Few details were being made available as deputies investigate.

Cantrell’s body was found was found at about 11:40 a.m. Thursday in a grassy area between Walmart and a mattress store along U.S. 340.
