U.S. Route 250 in Marion Co. remains closed

FAIRMONT, W.Va. —  The West Virginia Division of Highways continues to try to stabilize a rock slide in Marion County.

U.S. Route 250 was closed between Holbert Road (250/20) and Mary Lou Retton Drive (250/55) on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.

Debris from the embankment made the road impassable.

The WVDOH Geotechnical Unit surveyed the site and found unstable rock and large trees which are likely to slide in the future. Due to these concerns, the unstable material will be removed before the road is opened to traffic.

According to the WVDOH, ”Every effort (is being made) to expedite the slide remediation work.”

Maintenance of the detour route (Holbert Road to Mary Lou Retton Drive) “will be a priority while this section of US 250 remains closed” the DOH included in a release Friday.
