Police search for Morgantown bank robbery suspect

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Investigators in Morgantown are searching for the man who threatened tellers and robbed a downtown bank.

At approximately 3:15 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, Morgantown Police Department responded to United Bank on the corner of Fayette and Chestnut Streets.

“He was a white male approximately 6 feet tall of average build,” described Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston. “Detectives are currently working on the case trying to pull video and other information as we can to follow up any leads.”

Officers arrived on scene in less than a minute following the report. Workers at the bank reported
the man was wearing a dark coat, a hat and had his face covered.

“He presented a note demanding money from the tellers threatening use of a fire arm. The suspect then fled the area on foot,” Preston added.

The suspect made off with an undetermined amount of money.

“There were no injuries as a result of the incident. There was no display of a weapon just the threatened use of one.”
