Charges filed in connection with deadly crash in Greenbrier County

RENICK, W.Va. — A South Carolina man has been charged with negligent homicide following a fatal collision in Greenbrier County, authorities said.

The wreck happened Monday morning on U.S. Route 219 near Renick, according to information released Tuesday by the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department.

A northbound car being driven John Mazzuchelli, 51, of Duncan, South Carolina, attempted to pass a tractor trailer when he crashed into an oncoming vehicle being driven by Roger Cain, 72, of Marlinton. Cain died later Monday at a Roanoke, Va., hospital, authorities said.

Mazzuchelli was arraigned and released on bail. A preliminary hearing will be scheduled.
