Fire claims life in Marion County

MONONGAH, W.Va. — A 75-year-old woman died in a fire in Marion County Wednesday evening, according to investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office.

The blaze was reported at 5:30 p.m. at a residence on Little Mill Fall Road in Monongah.

There were no smoke detectors in the home, an investigator said.

Eight Marion County volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the scene.

No word yet on what started the blaze.
