Fatal fire in Fayette County under investigation

BOOMER, W.Va. — A fatal Thursday night fire in Fayette County is under investigation.

The identity of the victim has not yet been established, but it’s believed that a 53-year-old woman was living in the home at the time.

No cause has been determined yet.

“The preliminary results of this investigation do not appear to indicate that this fire was intentionally started, but it is too early in the investigation to make any final conclusions or determinations as to the exact cause of this fire,” Fayette County Sheriff Mike Fridley said.

Firefighters from Boomer, Smithers, Montgomery, and Gauley Bridge responded to a house fire in Boomer just before midnight, Thursday evening.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
