CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Beckley attorney Alan Larrick will direct the state Lottery in the Justice administration, Governor-elect Jim Justice announced Sunday.
Larrick, who has a law career spanning 38 years, will replace acting Director John Myers who Justice named as his Secretary of Administration.
Justice has known Larrick for a long time, he said in a news release.
“He knows how to think big. I want everyone working in my administration to bring fresh ideas to the table in order to make state government more efficient and Alan will help us get there,” Justice said.
Larrick has served in various organizations and on various boards over the years including as president of the Raleigh County chapter of the WVU Alumni Association.
Larrick said he’s looking forward to serving the state.
“It’s truly an honor to serve West Virginia and I am humbled to have the opportunity to help Governor-elect Justice make our state number one,” Larrick said. “I hope to bring my private sector experience to this post and make the West Virginia Lottery as successful as possible.”
These are challenging times for the 31-year-old Lottery hit hard in recent years by competition from other states. Justice’s Greenbrier casino is one the agency’s licensed facilities.
