MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Parkersburg South’s overall strength of schedule and early season wins over Morgantown and Huntington helped hold the Patriots at the overall No. 1 spot in the second release of the MetroNews girls basketball Power Index computer rankings, presented by AARP.
The Patriots (11-4) were No. 1 in the initial release, but then suffered rematch losses to both Huntington and Morgantown since, splitting the season series with both teams. Huntington (10-2) comes in at No. 2, followed by No. 3 South Charleston (10-2), No. 4 Buckhannon-Upshur (12-2) and No. 5 Martinsburg (11-2).
Bluefield (10-1) is the highest rated Class AA team, coming in at No. 6 overall, while Tucker County (11-2) remains the highest Class A team at No. 20.
