Snow expected across much of West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for much of West Virginia on Sunday.

The advisory, effective until noon Monday, predicted snow accumulations of two to four inches in West Virginia’s lowlands. The advisory was predicting four to seven inches in the higher elevations of Pocahontas and Randolph County.

Snow was already beginning late Sunday morning in the mountains. The snow was predicted to start in the lowlands early Sunday afternoon.

The weather service said snow would be heavy at times late Sunday afternoon and evening, creating low visibility. After midnight, the snow was expected to be more sporadic.

The weather service cautioned that some driving conditions could become hazardous.
