Girl dies in West Fork River

WESTON, W.Va. — A young girl died Monday morning when the car she was in landed in the West Fork River in Weston, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department.

Payden Farnsworth, 8, a student at Peterson-Central Elementary School, was in a car being driven by Joshua Butcher on Main Avenue. The car went over an embankment and into the river at before 6 a.m., according to deputies.

There was no immediate word on Butcher’s condition. Deputies are continuing their investigation.
