Teen arrested for running naked along Corridor G

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police arrested a teenage boy for running naked along Corridor G in Charleston Sunday afternoon.

The boy was spotted near Oakwood Road on U.S. 119 at around 1:30 p.m.

Lt. Steve Cooper, chief of detectives for the Charleston Police Department, said the boy stripped down and urinated on the hood of a police cruiser.

“The officer got on his P.A. system and ordered him to stop and make himself available for handcuffing until we could figure out what was going on,” Cooper said on Monday’s “580 Live” heard on MetroNews affiliate 580-WCHS in Charleston.

The boy fled on foot, but was eventually arrested, Cooper said.

There was a minor car accident because motorists were distracted watching the teen. No one was hurt.

It was an unusual incident, Cooper said.

“I’ve seen the footage from the dash cam in the cruiser — it’s not something you see every day. That’s for sure,” Cooper said.

The teenager’s name has not been released because he is a minor.

He was taken to the hospital following the incident. Cooper said police are investigating what caused the teen to act this way.

“He exhibited signs of excited delirium, which comes from ingesting certain chemicals or drugs. We won’t know until we get the results back what may have been in his blood stream,” he said.

Cooper said the teen was not hurt.
