Marion County woman indicted in 2016 accidental shooting death

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — The Marion County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Amy Lynn Jones, 39, of Fairmont, in connection with an incident last year that led to the accidental shooting death of a 16-year-old Fairmont Senior High School student.

Last June, police say Jones had passed out from drug use with five juveniles in her home. At that time, one of the juveniles found access to the hand gun used in the accidental shooting.

According to the criminal complaint, two of the juveniles were playing with the handgun when it discharged on June 12.

Jones faces 3-15 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 if convicted of felony child neglect resulting in death.

The Marion County Grand Jury returned indictments against 29 people on Monday.
