BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — Search teams recovered the body of a Marshall University student along the Guyandotte River in Cabell County on Tuesday afternoon.
Mitchell Higgins, 22, of Sistersville, jumped from an Interstate 64 bridge in Barboursville early Saturday after wrecking his car. Investigators said Higgins may have been disoriented after the crash and not have realized how steep the bank was in that area.
Crews began searching the river later the same morning. The body was found in a place they previously searched but it was obscured until the water level dropped.
Higgins was a senior at Marshall.
