NORMAN, Okla. — West Virginia’s 15-point third-quarter lead didn’t stand up, and Tynice Martin’s 35-point performance wasn’t enough.
Instead, No. 19 Oklahoma rallied to tie the game in regulation and eventually won 90-87 in double-overtime behind 33 points and 13 rebounds from center Vionise Pierre-Louis.
“It was a good game,” coach Mike Carey said. “Both teams played hard. They executed down the stretch and we didn’t. That was the difference in the game.”
Martin finished 6-of-8 from 3-point range while playing 48 minutes, and Teana Muldrow added 22 points, 13 rebounds and five assists for the Mountaineers (16-8, 4-8), who dropped their third straight.
“Tynice had a great game. I thought Teana played well,” Carey said. “We just couldn’t get that third and fourth person to step up and play on either end.”
Oklahoma (19-6, 10-3) outscored WVU 23-11 in the fourth quarter to force overtime tied at 67-67 before the game went to a second OT even at 78-all.
Lanay Montgomery finished with 10 points and nine rebounds for WVU, while Chania Ray dished out five assists.
West Virginia shot just 36.6 percent from the field compared to Oklahoma’s 44.8 percent (30-of-67), with both teams claiming 44 rebounds each.
