Cronin leaving Marshall to join USF staff

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall defensive assistant Sean Cronin has left to join the staff at the University of South Florida and new head coach Charlie Strong.

Sources within the Marshall athletics department confirmed Cronin’s departure Friday.

Cronin had two stints as a defensive assistant under Doc Holliday. He rejoined the staff in 2013, hired to coach defensive ends. Prior to that, Cronin coached the defensive line for the Herd in 2010, then spent the 2011 and 2012 seasons as the defensive line coach at Temple.

This could be just the first of several changes on the Marshall staff ahead of spring practice, which begins March 27.
