CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Board of Education member Beverly Kingery resigned from the board Monday in a letter to Gov. Jim Justice, though she did not specify the reasons for leaving.
Kingery previously served as superintendent of Nicholas County Schools. In January 2015, then-Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin appointed her to the board.
Since his inauguration Jan. 16, Justice has appointed four new voting members to the school board. With Kingery’s departure and another vacant seat, Justice will have appointed six voting members to the body.
Mike Green, who served as board president, and Lloyd Jackson, who served as board vice president, resigned Jan. 31.
The board named longtime board member Tom Campbell as president and new appointee Chuck Hatfield as vice president at its meeting Feb 2. Kingery was not present for that meeting, but in a written statement she announced she was resigning at that time from her position as secretary.
