Do Not Use water order issued in Boone County

CAMP CREEK, W.Va. — More than 300 West Virginia American Water customers in Boone County have been told not to use their water.

WVAWC issued a Do Not Use water notice Friday afternoon for the Camp Creek and Julian communities after a cross-contamination event. Toilet cleaner from a church bathroom flowed into the water distribution system, according to the state Bureau for Public Health.

The company informed customers not to use the water under any circumstances except for flushing the toilet.

Crews are working with the state BPH to flush and test the system. A water tanker will be brought in for residents to use. It’s unknown when the problem will be fixed.
