Do Not Use order lifted for WVAWC customers in Boone County

CAMP CREEK, W.Va. — West Virginia American Water customers in Boone County can now use their water. The company has lifted a Do Not Use order.

More than 300 customers in the Camp Creek/Julian area were issued the notice on Friday following a cross-contamination event. State health officials said blue toilet bowl cleaner from a church bathroom flowed into the water distribution system.

The water company said the affected areas have since been flushed out. Multiple water samples have also been collected for testing. None of those sample have shown signs of an outside contaminant.

A boil water advisory remained in affect through Saturday night.

WVAWC said affected customers may resume using their water.
