State Police locate man, 2 children who went missing following car crash

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State police say they found a man and two injured children who left the scene of a car accident in Kanawha County.

Monk Taylor was arrested Saturday night.

Monk Taylor was arrested Saturday night in Roane County. Taylor was located at his Gandeeville home with two girls, ages 7 and 11.

Troopers said the 7 year old girl has a large knot on her head. The 11 year old girl has a swollen eye and had glass in her knee. They were transported to a Charleston hospital to be evaluated.

It’s unknown how Taylor got to his house, but investigators said he may have been driven there by someone.

Police began their search after the crash on Interstate 77 North on the Haines Branch exit ramp near Sissonville. It happened at around 7 p.m. Saturday.

It was a single vehicle rollover, troopers said. The vehicle crashed and then Taylor allegedly grabbed the two girls and fled the scene.

Taylor is facing charges of child endangerment and giving false information to police.

A woman, who troopers said is Taylor’s significant other, was also injured in the crash and taken to the hospital. She was still on scene when help arrived.

No word on what led to the accident.
