SUMMIT PARK, W.Va. — An accident involving a train and a vehicle just outside of Clarksburg early Monday morning could eventually lead to the arrest of at least one person.
Chief Deputy Scott Lattea of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department reports that a 2017 Chevy Cruze suffered heavy damage to the front-end of the vehicle when it attempted to race an oncoming train to an intersection in the Summit Park area of Harrison County just after 3 a.m. Monday morning.
No injuries were reported in the collision, but a witness on the train told police they saw a woman fleeing on foot from the driver’s side of the Chevy Cruze.
Police then found needles and drug paraphernalia in the damaged vehicle upon arrival.
Chief Deputy Lattea said it’s possible at least one other person was in the vehicle with the driver, but said the Sheriff’s Department wasn’t certain of that yet.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department does not have any suspect description available, but believes they may have a person of interest based on the vehicle’s registration.
