Teen shot at Clay County party

CLAY, W.Va. — A teenager is recovering from a gunshot wound and a Clay County man is in jail.

State Police say the victim, age 17, was shot in the leg at a party along Coleman Drive in the community of Lizemores in Clay County on Friday night. Troopers have not released the name of the victim. He was flow via HealthNet to the Charleston Area Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect arrested is Daniel Craddock, 26, of Wallback, W.Va. Craddock is lodged in the Central Regional Jail facing a charge of malicious wounding.

State Police arrived on the scene of the shooting but Craddock had left. They went to his home later in the evening and he wasn’t there, but was arrested when he returned. Troopers say Craddock and the victim were aquatinted. It’s not clear what prompted the shooting. An investigation continues.
