Power restored to 98 percent of Appalachian Power customers following storms

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Almost all of Appalachian Power Company customers in West Virginia, affected by Wednesday’s storms, have had their power fully restored.

The company released an update Sunday morning that said power is back on for about 98 percent of affected customers.

Just less than 92,000 customers across the state were left in the dark.

Crews have been making repairs since last week. More than 1,200 workers have helped in the restoration effort since the storm hit the area.

As of 9:45 a.m. Sunday, more than 2,900 customers were still without power.

A large number of those outages are in the following counties: Logan County (1,018), Fayette County (727), Wyoming County (423) and Wayne County (220).

All customers should see power restored by 9 p.m. Sunday.
