CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Randolph County man allegedly made and spent counterfeit money in Elkins from August to November of last year, according to federal prosecutors.
Anthony Francis Silvester, III, 37, of Elkins, was named in a five count federal grand jury indictment Tuesday.
Acting U.S. Attorney Betsy Jividen said Silvester passed the fake bills at several businesses over the four month period. Investigators also found $2,300 in counterfeit money in his possession.
Silvester faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 on each count.
The Secret Service, West Virginia State Police and the Elkins Police Department were part of the investigation.
