CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Outdoors retailer Gander Mountain is closing its Charleston store as part of its decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
The company said, like other retailers, it has seen patterns shift from direct-to-customer sales to e-commerce.
Gander Mountain first opened at the Southridge location in 2006. Cabela’s opened a store less than a mile away six years later. The closing is expected to take place over the next few months.
Friday’s bankruptcy announcement wasn’t the first for Gander Mountain. It made similar filings in 1984 and 1996.
The company is closing 32 stores in all.
