Union ratifies new four year deal with Dominion

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — After reaching a tentative agreement at the end of February, the United Gas Workers Union and Dominion have officially ratified a new labor contract.

The new four-year pact is retroactive to April 1, 2016 and expires April 1, 2020.

Local 69 represents about 915 union-represented employees in West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and Virginia.

“I am very proud of each and every member for showing the union morality needed to garner the agreement we were able to reach,” UGWU Local 69 President Craig Bradford said in post to the local group’s Facebook page.

Following a week-long lockout in September 2016, Dominion and UGWU operated under an agreement to abstain from lockouts or strikes while negotiations continued through April 1, 2017.

The tentative agreement has been ratified by the membership. Vote tallies aren’t available.

One of the key sticking points in negotiations, healthcare plans for current retirees, was resolved in this ratified CBA.

Current retirees and those who retire before July 1 will see no changes to their health care.
