Huntington’s Dawson wins second straight Ostrowski Award

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Huntington senior Jordyn Dawson won a second straight Ostrowski Award, given annually by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association to the top high school girls basketball player in the state.

Dawson led the Highlanders to a 25-3 overall record and Class AAA state championship. The Xavier signee averaged 23 points, 13 rebounds and nine steals per game for Huntington.

South Charleston standout, also a Xavier signee, Aaliyah Dunham finished second to Dawson in the voting.

Dawson will receive the Ostrowski Award at the 71st Victory Awards Dinner May 21 at the Village Square Conference Center in Clarksburg.
