CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Secretary of Commerce Woody Thrasher announced Kristopher Hopkins has been appointed as the executive director of the West Virginia Development Office.
The office works to grow the state’s economy through attracting new businesses and growing businesses already established in the state.
Hopkins, who has 14 years of experience in business development, previously served as the director of the Business and Industrial Development Division of the office. As executive director, he will oversee the four divisions regarding small business, international business and community development.
“Kris has played an active role in bringing several major business projects to the state over the years,” Thrasher said in a statement.
Hopkins previously worked for a Fortune 1000 company in the Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina.
Hopkins is a Chesapeake, W.Va., native and graduate of East Bank High School. He has an economics degree from Harvard University and an MBA from the University of Charleston.
He currently lives in Cabell County with his wife, Jill Hopkins, and their two daughters.
