Fayette County man sentenced for 2014 shooting death

FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. — A Fayette County man was sentenced Friday for second-degree murder for a 2014 shooting.

Robert Brown Jr. of Oak Hill was sentenced 40 years in prison for the death of Jamaall Calhoun. Brown shot Calhoun in November 2014 at Brown’s home in Oak Hill.

According to Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Harrah, Brown and Calhoun were friends, and the motive for the crime appears to be revenge for a prior incident.

Brown said Calhoun had made verbal threats prior to the murder regarding inquires about the prior incident.
