GRAFTON, W.Va. — Police are searching for an inmate who escaped Pruntytown Correctional Center in Grafton early Friday morning.

Tyler Wynkoop, 25, originally of Harpery’s Ferry, was serving a 1-10 year sentence at Pruntytown on a grand larceny conviction in Jefferson County.

He is listed at 6’0”, 175 pounds with brown hair, green eyes, and a bullet hole tattoo on top of his left hand.

Police say he has tattoos on each arm as well.

He is believed to be in a stolen 2001 White Grand Cherokee with West Virginia license plate 2R5233.

Lawrence Messina of the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety said late Friday morning that investigators do not believe Wynkoop is armed.

If you have any information, call 911 immediately.
