WALTON, W.Va. — A 2-year-old girl died Friday night after her body was found in Green Creek, authorities said.

John Kelly, chief of the Walton volunteer fire department, told WSAZ-TV crews began searching for the girl around 6:30 p.m. after receiving a call that she was missing.

She was found in the water and taken to Roane General Hospital, the chief said.

Police were also on the scene. Few additional details had been released as of Saturday morning.
