Clarksburg natives arrested on murder charges after body discovered in Barbour County

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Two people in Harrison County face felony murder and conspiracy charges following the discovery of human remains in Barbour County.

According to Clarksburg Police Chief Robert Hilliard, two people informed the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department they found a body in a remote, wooded area near Volga Saturday afternoon.

Detectives with the Clarksburg Police Department arrested Elizabeth Lady Bird Jenkins, 50, and Daniel Claude Amsler, 54, on Sunday. Both live in the Williams Avenue area of Clarksburg’s North View section.

Chief Hilliard said the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department called him with the information when they determined they did not have any area missing persons.

A Columbus, Ohio woman, Keyairy Deshawn Wilson, went missing in the North View area of Clarksburg last month, but police did not confirm if the two cases were connected. Hilliard said they couldn’t be certain yet that the body found in the Volga area belonged to a woman.

The body is undergoing an autopsy and identification process in Charleston Monday morning.
