Inmate dead after fight at Mt. Olive

MOUNT OLIVE, W.Va. — A fight among inmates at the state’s maximum security penitentiary left an imate dead on Wednesday night.

Division of Corrections officials identify the victim as Earl Parsons, age 30.  Parsons was serving time at the Mount Olive Prison for convictions of sex and property crimes in Cabell County.

The Division of Corrections and West Virginia State Police are investigating the fight. So far there has been no indication of what started the incident or where in the lockup it happened.

Charges are expected to be filed against one or more inmates involved in the fight.
