Loughry to serve four-year term as Chief Justice

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — West Virginia Supreme Court Chief Justice Allen Loughry was selected to serve in the position for a four-year term Wednesday by members of the court.

Previous chief justices have been elected to serve a one-year term, though a few justices did serve two terms in a row.

The court voted to change the rules to create a more efficient and competent administration of the state’s judicial system.

Justices chose Loughry to serve as chief justice in January.
