Car plunges over Interstate 64 bridge in Wayne County

UPDATE: Interstate reopened at approximately 5:40 p.m. Friday. The person in the car that plunged from the bridge was in stable condition.

SPRING VALLEY, W.Va. — A car careened over the side of an Interstate 64 bridge near Huntington during a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning.

The collisions occurred in the area of the Spring Valley bridge near the mile 6 marker.

Responders offered no immediate information regarding injuries.

I-64 westbound was expected to be closed for most of Friday afternoon as the crash site was cleaned up.

A westbound detour was set up beginning at the Street West No. 17 exit. Motorists were being rerouted back on the interstate near Kenova.
