George Washington hands AA No. 1 Bridgeport first loss

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. — Class AAA No. 6 George Washington handed three-time defending AA state champion and No. 1 Bridgeport its first loss of the season on Saturday, 12-9.

Preston Taylor finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored, including a home run, to lead George Washington (8-2).

Bridgeport (3-1) loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t bring a run home.

Brine Takahashi went 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Indians in the loss.
