Deadly crash in Lewis County

LEWIS COUNTY, W.Va. — State Police confirmed Monday afternoon that one person died in a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on Rt. 33 late Sunday night.

First responders were on scene around 11 p.m. Sunday night on Rt. 33 West near the Lewis/Upshur County line.

Investigators believe the accident may have been caused by the victim hitting an animal–possibly a deer.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

State Police are investigating.
