West Virginia reporter wins Pulitzer Prize for investigative work

NEW YORK, NY — Reporter Eric Eyre of the Charleston Gazette-Mail has won a Pulitzer Prize in connection with his reporting on the state’s opioid crisis.

Eric Eyre has been with the Gazette-Mail since 1998,.

Eyre was named the 2017 Pulitzer Prize winner in the category of investigative reporting in an announcement made Monday.

The panel of judges called Eyre’s work which was published last May and last December “courageous reporting.”

Eyre has been with the Gazette-Mail since 1998.
