Expanded search for Fairmont State president set to begin

FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University expects to have a new president in place January 1, 2018.

According to Dixie Yann, the chair of the FSU Board of Governors, a search committee will be named Thursday, April 20.

The committee is expected to hire a search firm to assist in hiring an interim president by July 1, 2017 and continue to find a permanent replacement for the retiring Dr. Maria Rose.

The university’s BOG had narrowed a previous search to three candidates.

Two professors filed a suit over the search process claiming it violated Open Meeting Act requirements.

An expanded search was sparked following the lawsuits.

Rose will retire July 1, 2017.
