Winfield senior Lawman wins Doug Huff Award

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Winfield senior Mary Lawman has been named as the 2017 Doug Huff Award recipient, selected by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association.

The award is given annually to an athlete in the state whose value stretches beyond the stat sheet. Lawman was a part of four soccer state championships with the Generals, two track and field team titles and a girls basketball Class AA semifinal appearance.

Lawman is the first female to win the Doug Huff Award, which is in its third year. She’s signed to play soccer next year at Marshall.

Lawman will be presented with the Doug Huff Award at the 71st annual Victory Awards Dinner on May 21 at Village Square Conference Center in Clarksburg.
