Investigation underway following an officer-involved shooting in Pendleton County

FRANKLIN, W.Va. — A person was shot and killed by a law enforcement officer in Pendleton County Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

The pursuit of the driver apparently began in Rockingham County, Virginia, and then came into Pendleton County where West Virginia State Police troopers, sheriff’s deputies from Pendleton and Hardy counties and others joined in the chase.

The pursuit ended near Franklin where the person was shot by one of the deputies. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of those involved haven’t been released
