CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Wood County woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to robbing banks in three states, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Betsy Steinfeld Jividen.
Christine Joy Martin, 31, of Davisville, pleaded guilty to charges of ‘Unarmed Bank Robbery.’ The plea came through a previously filed six-count information which indicated Martin was cooperating with prosecutors.
Martin admitted to robbing a Huntington Bank branch in downtown Fairmont on Nov. 4, 2016, a WesBanco branch in Washington County, Pa., on Dec. 23, 2016 and the People’s Bank in Athens County, Ohio on Dec. 27, 2016. She got away with a total of $4,500.
Martin was also originally indicted in connection with the Dec. 20, 2016, holdup at a United Bank branch in Morgantown but the charge was dropped as part of the plea bargain agreement.
Martin faces up to 20 years in prison on each count. She’ll be sentenced later this year.
